Community Standards
ToyTraderz.com ToyTraderz.com was developed with one thing in mind - to bring collectors from a multitude of lines and collecting backgrounds into one solid community. While many "major" lines have their own array of fan sites and resources, the less popular and more obscure lines tend to get overlooked. Member-contributed Content ToyTraderz.com encourages all members to contribute any amount of knowledge and wisdom they have to the community. As a registered member, you have a variety of opportunities to do this. First and foremost are the forums. With both discussion forums for several product lines and groups, there's plenty to discuss! Additionally, members can submit toy reviews and articles to be posted on the front page, as well as images to add to the gallery. Reviews can be done for any specific product or smaller group of product (i.e., a particular wave of figures). Articles meant to be more editorial and are generally meant to provide a broader scope of information. The Toy Database The Toy Database is an ever-shaping project involving hours upon hours of work by many collectors. Our goal with this database is to provide a rich collection of information and images on many different toy lines from old to new. Members are encouraged to submit any images and information they'd like in the database to help build it up as much as we can. While we want the database to be as expansive and accurate as possible, we recognize that erroneous information may be posted inadvertently. Should you find any inaccurate data, please contact us as we will do our best to clean it up ASAP. For general information about the Toy Database, please visit our Toy Database FAQs. Collector Gallery The Collector Gallery is the place for collectors to show off their stuff! Members are encouraged to post photographs of their favorite items or whole collections to share with the ToyTraderz community. Images should be limited to 256KB per image and 1024 pixels in maximum aspect. Right now there is no limit to the number of images or albums in each registered user's photo gallery. For the time being, we only ask that the Collector Gallery be used solely for hosting collectible images. This system should not be abused for the sake of hosting non-collectible images and will be monitored by Admin in this regard. Forum Conduct The ToyTraderz forum is intended to foster discussion between like-minded collectors. However, "like-minded" doesn't always mean "of shared opinion". Discussion can and will often involve a certain amount of debate and disagreement. While debate is expected (and even encouraged), we ask you to please show respect for other members and know when you've overstepped your boundaries. Flaming, name-calling, insulting, and other similar offenses will not be tolerated. Members committing these offenses will be subject to suspension and/or banning. Profanity - ToyTraderz is open to members of all ages, so please keep it clean. Posting the same topic in multiple forums - In the process of selling items or requesting information, there may be times that multiple forums might seem suitable for your post. Rather than post in multiple forums with the same subject, please find the forum to best suit your needs, and post the thread in only that forum. Duplicates will be removed. On the same note, spamming the boards will multiples of the same topics will not be tolerated, and users doing so will be subject to suspension or banning. This includes using the Private Message system to make an unsolicited mass broadcast. Auctions - A primary purpose of the ToyTraderz forums is for the buying, selling and trading of toy-related items. In addition to this, there is a dedicated forum section to promot your own eBay auctions. eBay items can be posted otherwise if they are under scrutiny or discussion (i.e., a potentially shady auction involving a rare piece). Avatars - ToyTraderz supplies a small selection of avatars for forum use. Members also have the ability to upload an avatar to the system for their own use. The is a file size limitation, and avatars will only be allowed at a 80 by 80 pixel size. Please use good judgment and keep your avatars clean. Inappropriate avatars will be removed. Signatures - A brief signature of up to 255 characters can be activated in the forums. Please observe the same general rules for your signature that you would for your regular posts. Small images and banners can be used in your signature, but no more than 60 pixels tall and 468 pixels wide, and they must be hosted on by your own means (or in the Collector Gallery). The Marketplace Trading, buying and selling are encouraged in the ToyTraderz community. We only ask that you use common sense and please take the proper precautions when dealing with anyone online. Check the feedback section on ToyTraderz, ask for references, ask for feedback at other sites - do whatever you can to get some transaction background on the person you're dealing with. As much as we'd like to live in a perfect, scam-free world, there are always going to be those people out there that will try and pull one over on you. Taking the necessary precautions will help eliminate those possibilities. Please also remember that ToyTraderz.com claims no responsibility or liability for transactions done on this website. Member Feedback When completing a transaction with a fellow member, the Member Feedback section of the Marketplace should be used to help rate that transaction. This way future traders can do their homework on potential deal makers, and it will help to keep shady sellers and buyers at bay in the community. Scalping We all know that scalping can be a part of the toy collecting hobby. The definition of scalping in the hobby context is "to engage in the reselling of something currently available to the public at a price higher than the established value." To expand on that definition. Buying a new Star Wars figure at Wal-Mart for $5.99 and selling it for $15.00 is scalping, as the item is currently available to the public. Asking $1000 for an original carded Star Wars figure that books at $50-60 is not scalping, as the item is unavailable to the public at retail. ToyTraderz does not encourage scalping, but we also do not deny sellers the right to ask whatever price they choose for any particular item. If a seller has a newly-released item for sale at three times the retail cost, they are not denied the ability to list the item at that cost. If you see a seller with an overpriced item, whether it be scalping or simple overpricing, it is not your duty to call the seller out. Simply ignore the overpriced item and move on to the next one. Privacy ToyTraderz respects your private information, and will not release your personal information to any other person or entity. Reporting Abuse Any abuses of the features at ToyTraderz by any members should be reported immediately by contacting us. Issues will be dealt with as soon as humanly possible. The above is a basic outline of some rules and regulations at ToyTraderz. Other rules may apply and will be at the fair discretion of the moderators and admin. The short version of this would say to use common sense and common courtesy when using ToyTraderz.com. The rest will take care of itself. Enjoy your stay, and thanks for doing your part to make ToyTraderz a great community. |
